17 DAYS OF SPIRITUAL WISDOM

The Gift of Recognition

The gift of recognition - seeing through the 3rd eye

The Master Jesus gave many of his greatest teachings in the form of parables. According to St. Matthew’s gospel (13:13) he did this “because they seeing see not.” He considered it necessary to illustrate his life-changing wisdom through stories in order for his audience to recognise its profound meaning.

As Secretary of the European Headquarters of The Aetherius Society for 38 years, I am all too familiar with those who look but do not see. During this time millions of people have come across our teachings and beliefs in a whole variety of ways, but only a relative handful have recognised them as the great truths they are, of which hopefully you are one. They are delivered in a very direct manner which is easy to understand, at one level at least. Dr. George King went out of his way to speak and write with an honest clarity, deliberately avoiding the complicated phraseology you frequently find in mystical circles. The Master Aetherius, Mars Sector 6 and other Cosmic Masters use accessible, sometimes even colloquial, language to deliver their timeless truths.

Why then do some recognise these jewels on the dust of life’s highway while others see only dust? It is not a result of their educational, religious or cultural background, because our Members and sympathisers encompass a broad spectrum of these. Those raised in the Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, other faiths and none; those of various races and nationalities and those of high and modest academic attainment have all demonstrated the ability to perceive the truth of our teachings.

There is a very good metaphysical reason why this happens, especially on this basic physical realm. Two hundred years ago the English poet and artist William Blake wrote:

“This life’s dim windows of the soul
Distorts the Heavens from pole to pole,
And leads you to believe a lie
When you see with, not through, the eye.”

His fellow poet of the same period, William Wordsworth, wrote: “with an eye made quiet by the power Of harmony, and the deep power of joy, We see into the life of things.” It is remarkable that without any access to yoga teaching about the Christ Centre or the Third Eye, these two inspired writers knew, presumably from personal experience, of the existence of the eye that sees. They also knew the limitations of living without such vision.

Those with the gift of recognition, whether they realise it or not, have at some time developed an intuitive perception. It is not just logic, though that is essential, and it is certainly not some leap of faith that guides people to recognise the metaphysical realities of life. It is an inner realisation which must have been developed before and which, if it is not nurtured, can be lost – and sadly in those 38 years I have witnessed that too.

On May 2nd, 1958 Mars Sector 6 delivered one of the great, possibly the greatest teaching ever, about meditation. In this transmission, ‘Meditation for this Age’, published in Cosmic Voice Issue 17, August/September 1958, he transformed traditional yoga teaching about the reality of life into a far more complete and usable form. Instead of talking about material existence as illusory – or maya as the ancients termed it – he called it a reflection of a higher reality. He stated:

When a man looketh through his eyes, he seeth only the more basic reflection of the lesser life. When a man looketh through his Eye, he seeth not the reflection – but the Life – ITSELF. When a man looketh neither through his eyes nor through his Eye but through the Brahmic Principle, he seeth not the reflection nor the life but – THAT.

People can look at the reflection, but do they see the life? They can read a statement, but do they get it? And if they do, do they realise what it means to them? To put it bluntly what are they going to do about it?

The greatest planetary masters in the cosmic pantheon of this solar system are the Lords of Saturn. On July 8th, 1988 they gave the following advice to The Aetherius Society:

Never let anyone or anything turn you from your purpose.

Among other things, this was a most elevated endorsement of the path of The Aetherius Society, which we now call King Yoga, and Dr. King took it as such. We could also take it as helpful advice, a wonderful teaching, or as a divine commandment depending how reverently we regard these Great Ones.

There are undoubtedly many things which could turn us from our purpose in life if we let them. Materialism, emotionalism and delusional thinking, which are so prevalent in this world, can all, to paraphrase Blake, dim the windows of the soul, distort the heavens from pole to pole and lead us to believe a lie. But Mars Sector 6 gives us hope. He does not say “if”, he says “when”. We may see only the reflection now, but there will come a time when we will see the life itself. And, as you would expect, he goes way beyond Blake and Wordsworth when he says that the time will come when we will see neither through the eyes nor through the Eye, but through the Brahmic Principle, a reference to the Crown Center or Brahma Chakra. With this advanced but profoundly encouraging mystical promise he tells us that we will then see something greater even than life as we know it – that which is truly divine.

If we feed the soul through the study of wisdom, the practice of spiritual exercises and above all through the highest form of service of which we are capable, our vision will be maintained, enhanced and transformed to ever higher levels of perception. This will give us a new-found confidence enabling and inspiring us to share our vision with others. The Master Jesus confirmed this two thousand years after the gospel of St. Matthew. In a prayer channelled through Dr. George King on September 14th, 1957, he spoke about people securing…

…the Heaven which the Eye that sees – knows of;
So that, when this is so, they know
And knowing – stay,
And staying – convince,
And convincing – teach,
And teaching – raise,
And raising – bring down the Power of God upon all.

How precious is the gift of recognition when it leads us to the very portals of Divinity – and not just for ourselves, but for all.
