Ready or not – you are now
Many centuries ago a phrase of ancient truth was coined: when the pupil is ready the teacher appears. Master of Yoga Dr George King commented on this in a personal development class in 1966:
The teacher has to, by law, take the next step with those pupils who are ready, and if he cannot do so then the right teacher is brought along to be able to do so. This is one of the Laws of Karma. It is greater than all of us; and it is greater than the world; and it is greater than the solar system and even the suns, because it is one of the great laws. We have known about it for thousands of years on Earth. It appertains not only to this Earth, but all inhabited planets throughout this galaxy.
In all great truth, we are told, paradox exists. Without some depth of perception, this can be difficult to recognise but it must be there. Through meditation it is possible to unify at an intuitive level the two opposing meanings within a truth, which might appear to even the sharpest intellect to be irreconcilable.
So could it also be said, as the other side of this ancient coin, that when the teacher appears the pupil must be ready? A superficial appraisal, even by someone versed in metaphysics, would have to conclude not. For example, millions have encountered in one way or another The Twelve Blessings who do not practise it. This could be interpreted by a traditional thinker as indicating that they were not ready. There is though, another ancient truth: the Divine Law never gives you an opportunity which you are not able to take. Thus have we entered the land of paradox.
Taking an extreme and devastatingly tragic example, Pontius Pilate must have had the potential to do the right thing. The Master Jesus came from Venus to systematically and brilliantly engineer his own death and thereby bring salvation to our world. He would have had to change his strategy had Pilate risen to the occasion, and that possibility must have been there. In fact, according to St Matthew’s Gospel, he was encouraged to do so when it was revealed to his wife in a dream that the Master Jesus was a just man. She conveyed this to Pilate warning him not to order the crucifixion, but he chose to ignore her. Of course there were other evil forces at work on more than one level empowering the worst outcome, as the Master Jesus was well aware, but the fact remains that this could have been Pilate’s finest hour throughout numerous lifetimes, instead of his darkest.
In contrast one of the thieves next to Jesus on the cross turned what could not have been a more inauspicious situation into one of glory. According to the Gospel of St Luke, he recognised that the master at his side was innocent of the charges against him and acknowledged his Divine status. The Master Aetherius explained through Dr King:
The Venusian Who was murdered by a coarse army, turned to a thief and said, “Today, friend, will you be with me in heaven.” That other one did accompany our Beloved Brother to Venus and his scars were healed. Dear friends, this happened just because he was willing to be used as a negative pole of the positive Jesus, in those last few minutes. How much more then, can you do, who have some time in which to do it?
Our mental, physical and emotional limitations cannot prevent our soul from soaring to the heights, unless we let them; and when we allow our soul to guide us, those limitations, like the scars of the thief, will be healed.
Seekers need to be wary of finding comfort zones beyond which they will not explore. We are conditioned to reject things which do not sound true to us or which we just do not want to believe. But these sentiments are not a reliable guide. The resurrection of the Master Jesus did not sound true at the time, and still does not to many, but it happened. The existence of evil in the lowest realms of Earth as well as this one is very unpleasant to put it mildly, but it is a fact. Who would want to believe they have an illness? But sometimes you have to, in order to recover from it.
A Divine opportunity can come along at the most inopportune of moments. You are not necessarily prepared for it mentally, physically or emotionally, but spiritually the potential must be there. You might not recognise it when it is presented to you, but a part of you will know it to be true. You might not want it – in fact it could be very inconvenient in your life – but that same part will urge you towards it. The better your karma, the more ready you will be, and the more joyfully you will seize the moment when it comes. But even if theoretically you were not ready at all, the karma of that opportunity would enable you to be so, the moment you seized it.
One teacher who has appeared among us in these days is Dr George King. The path he has given us, which we call King Yoga, is simple in its essence and easy to understand at one level, but it is also advanced. A speculative enquirer could muse: am I really ready for this? The answer must be yes, or it could not have been presented to him. Just by stepping up to it he progresses up the readiness scale. Put simply, you earn the privilege of service by giving it.
One thing that King Yoga has going for it is that you can experience it. You do not have to take a leap of faith, in fact you would not be advised to do so. Faith is something which grows the more you learn, the more you develop and above all, the more you experience. You can feel healing energy because it is real; you can go to a holy mountain and tune in to its living power; you can register the difference between praying inside a Spiritual Push – when our selfless actions are enhanced by the Gods from space – and outside of it. You can gradually learn to see the light in your own chakras and the auras around all living things; and there are plenty more examples.
On the global front you can observe the effects of the Cosmic Missions performed by The Aetherius Society on our world. Like healing an individual they do not always bring instantaneous results, but over time their effects can be noted. One example would be the spiritual energy releases we arranged for peace in the Korean Peninsula prior to recent developments.
The Society was founded by Dr King in 1955, for ordinary people. Millions have come across it over the years and their reactions have been many and varied. For some it was a wonderful, uplifting revelation from the first day they heard about it and everything fitted perfectly into place. For others it was fascinating but challenging. For others still it was interesting but very difficult to believe. And some dismissed it out of hand because they just did not want to go there. A traditionalist might say that those who rejected such a path when it was offered to them proved that they were not ready for it. A New Age thinker would have to add that, at some level, they must have been – and that is the aspect of truth that matters most in these days.
