The Manipulation of Karma

There is a compassionate pole to the impersonal pressure of karma. This pole allows for the manipulation of karma providing one can understand how to do this.

Every action by the Cosmic Masters is designed to bring about the greatest karmic good for as many people as possible. Most of the work of Dr. King on earth was to improve the karma of mankind.

In the words of Dr. King, “Karma is pressure towards conformity. It is pressure directing you, the mind and you, the soul toward you, the Spirit.”

It is first important to understand that karma is a pressure, a force. It is not a punishment or reward system developed by a benevolent or wrathful personal God. It is a force that follows certain laws that can be manipulated. The purpose of the force is to move a life stream back toward God.

A good example of the manipulation of an individual’s karma was illustrated in the film Gandhi, the life story of Mahatma Gandhi. At a time during riots in India between the Muslims and the Hindus, a Hindu man approached Gandhi and confessed to the crime of killing a Muslim boy during a riot and asked what he could do to atone for this crime. Gandhi advised the man to adopt a Muslim boy of about the same age whose father had been killed during the riots. He should then raise him as his own son but as a Muslim not a Hindu.

The karma caused by killing a boy during a state of rage would tend to cause the reaction of being killed himself in a future life under similar circumstances. This would teach, through experience, the mistake of killing. The pressure of karma would tend to bring this experience. However, this man could relieve the pressure of the karma he caused by learning the lesson before the pressure forced the lesson. By adopting a Muslim boy of the same age as the one he killed and raising him as his own son, the man would learn many things. He would learn the value of a life by raising such a boy, for he would always remember the boy he had killed each time he looked at his adopted son. He would also learn the positive aspects of the Islamic religion by helping the boy grow up as a Muslim. His misunderstanding of Islam caused his rage, and his lack of appreciation of the preciousness of life allowed him to kill. By taking upon himself the experience necessary to learn these lessons himself he could relieve the pressure of karma. He would thus be manipulating his karma.

Just as individuals have karma, so do groups of individuals, countries, and mankind as a whole. This is an even more advanced area of study than individual karma.
